A school reunion. Facebook memories. Throwback Thursday. We're always looking back at how things used to be. Is that ok? Is it even healthy?
It's true that it is our history that makes us who we are but should we let it define us?
I've been guilty of putting too much emphasis on the past; I have felt haunted by my past, couldn't make plans or look forward to the future. And I'm fairly sure I'm not alone.
We're not Marty McFly. We can't go back in time. Or forward for that matter. If the past year or so has taught me anything it's that life is for living because none of us know how long we have on this earth. I don't want to have regrets that I didn't do something because my past held me back; I can learn from the past, I can embrace it, but sometimes it's time to say "Ok, it's time for a new challenge. To look forward. The past is done, today is my present. Tomorrow is my future. And I can make it better than the past."
